My guest today is Former Army Sergeant Luster Garrett. Luster grew up in Cincinnati, OH. After high school, he attended then Cumberland College in Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Data Processing in 1986. After working for the Hamilton County, Ohio Juvenile Court and School system for several years, Luster decided to join the military. He enlisted in the Army in 1994 and attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC. His Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was 31S, SATCOM and he went on to AIT at Ft. Gordon, GA. His first assignment was to the 52nd Signal Company in Mannheim, Germany, during which he supported Operation Joint Endeavor, the NATO Peacekeeping force for Bosnia. Later he was assigned to Ft. Richie, MD and exited the Army in 2000.

I’m joined today by USAF LtCol (Ret) Ron Neeper. Ron grew up in Moody, TX. Always wanting to join the military, he attended Baylor University in 1984 and was a cadet in their Air Force ROTC program. He was commissioned in 1987 as a 2nd Lt and attended Navigator training at Mather AFB, CA. There, he selected the B-52 airframe and went to Castle AFB, CA for B-52 Navigator/Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) training. His first assignment was on the B-52H model out of Carswell AFB, TX. In 1992, he switched airframes to the RC 135 Rivet Joint and was stationed at Offutt AFB, NE until 1998. After a long and successful career, Ron retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2009 out of Buckley AFB, CO.

Today, my guest is U.S. Air Force SSgt (Ret) John “Andy” Anderson. Andy grew up in Belford, New Jersey and joined the Army in 1947 at 17 years old. He attended Basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, followed by his first assignment at Ft. Lewis, WA. He went TDY (temporary duty) to Howard AFB, Panama, before being reassigned to Ft. Slocum, NY. There he was given the chance to cross-over into the newly formed Air Force. Afterwards, he was sent to Lowry AFB, CO where he married his wife of 60 years. In 1952, he was assigned to March AFB, CA as part of Strategic Air Command (SAC). Two years later, he was assigned to Guam. After that he went to Lincoln, NE, Taiwan and then retired in 1967 out of Holloman AFB, NM.
After retiring from the military, he became a Deputy Sheriff for Arapahoe County, CO. Later, Andy joined the Post Office and returned to the work he did in the military. He retired from the Post Office in 1988.

Today, my guest is U.S. Air Force MSgt (Ret) Jimmy Smith. Jimmy grew up in Arkansas and joined the Air Force in 1994 as a 1N5, Electronic Signals Intelligence Exploitation. His first assignment was to Wright-Patterson AFB, OH with the then National Air Intelligence Center. Later, he was assigned to Misawa, Japan as an F-16 targeteer. Throughout his career, he deployed to Saudi Arabia as well as four deployments to Al Udeid, Qatar. He retired after his last assignment at Defense Intelligence Agency-Charlottsville in 2016.

I welcome in former Army Specialist 4, Bjorn Oswalt today. Bjorn grew up in Detroit, MI. After graduating high school in 1969, he came out to Colorado to work for Mountain Bell. As his draft number drew closer, he returned to Michigan and enlisted in the US Army. He attended basic training at Ft. Knox, KY, then attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Gordon, GA. His Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was 31M, Tactical Control Room Technician. Bjorn’s first assignment was with the 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, KS. He later went to Germany as part of the 1st Armored Division. Returning to the US, he left Active Duty and joined the National Guard in Arizona as a Surveyor for a Field Artillery Battalion. He exited military service in 1987 and settled in Colorado.

Former Air Force Buck Sergeant Marianne Smith is my guest today. Marianne grew up in Oscoda, MI and joined the Air Force in 1984. She attended tech school at Chanute AFB, IL as a 32551 Avionics Instrument Systems Specialist. Her first assignment was to Fairchild AFB, WA, where she was one of the few females to be on flight line maintenance. She later cross-trained to Manpower, then exited the Air Force in 1995.

Today, my guest is Air Force retired MSgt Ron Denmon. Ron grew up in Southeast Houston, TX, attended Texas A&M and then joined the Air Force in 1982. His initial job was as a Combat Controller. He later switched to AFSC 3N0 Combat Camera and was assigned to Luke AFB, AZ for his first assignment. After some time as an OSI Special Agent, he eventually retired in 2007 as a 1N071 Intel troop, out of Buckley Air Force Base, CO.

Retired Air Force SMSgt Derick Lucas joins the podcast. Derick grew up in Lawrence, MA and joined the Air Force in 1989. He attended tech school at Lowry AFB, CO as a 2S0X0 Material Management troop. His first assignment was to Clark AFB, Philippines. There he went through a coup attempt, an 8.2 earthquake, and the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. Later, he cross-trained from supply to 1C6 Space Operator and retired in 2015.

Retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Robert Cherry is my guest today. Robert grew up in Orange County, CA and joined the Air Force in 1981 at 17 years old. He attended tech school at Chanute AFB, Illinois, and his first assignment was to F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY. He moved from active duty to the reserves and deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After 33 years of service, Robert retired in 2014.

He tells me about growing up in Rochester, Indiana and how he joined the Air Force in 1989 as a Civil Engineer 54550 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Specialist. He went to tech school in Wichita Falls, TX and his first assignment was to George AFB, CA. He deployed to the Kingdom of Bahrain in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He eventually retired in 2009 as a 1C6 Space Operator.
